What a week this was! Duncan and I moved (catching our 4 cats was the most difficult part of it all!) and That Band had 2 gigs over the weekend as well as Duncan hosting the new jam session on Wednesday at Dallas and recording 11 kids for a birthday party at Look It's Music, the new recording studio in Almuñecar.

That band had two gigs the first on Friday at Jauja Playa in Plaza Kelibia and he second at Dallas on the beachfront both went well although were sparsely attended.

We also ordered t shirts and they should be here the 2nd or 3rd week in May! and now on to the list of gigs for May;

We also ordered That Band Tshirts this past week, contact us by email at [email protected] to let me know what sizes you need and how many. They will be 12€ each or 2 for 20€.

That Band had 2 gigs this past Saturday. The first was at El Ancla in Torrox for the LIVE charity event. They were the last band of the night. It was great to see Martin, the El Ancla staff as well as friends from other bands like Tracy and Josh.
Martin said that they'd raised a good amount of money for the charity as well which is great!

The second gig of the night was at Cochran's in Nerja. The band was suprisingly energetic at this show but we, the That Band wives and girlfriends (or I should say the "That Band Groupies", were exhausted! Thankfully the lovely Bea and Celia had energy to make up for Caroline and I and got everyone up dancing.(including me and Rory, thanks Rory!) Celia and Antonio joined the band at the end of the night for Hace Calor which we have a little clip of from You Tube, then it was time to pack up, drive home, and go to bed!

Many thanks again to El Ancla and Cochran's for having That Band and the staff at both who always treat the guys and us so well! Gracias!

They don't call it "Good Friday" for nothing! Last night's gig in Legends in Salobreña was really great, the place was packed with people celebrating birthdays and anniversaries and people out for the Easter holidays. Many thanks to Jo and Ricky and their staff, they always are great to us! Jo told me last night that their website will be up and running soon and we'll link to it, they have live music every week, in fact yesterday they'd had Not To Fall (another great local band consisting of a dad and his 2 sons) play in the afternoon so the people who were there got a full day of music! They also have other events throughout the week so if you are in Salobreña go check them out. They also do great food at reasonable prices, Roland had the biggest burger I've ever seen, so big that he shared it and his salad and plate of chips with Caroline, Nuria, me and Duncan and we all were full after! Mick was in ecstacy over the pork pie tapa too!

How exciting! This is numero uno in the first of many hopefully! First off I want to tell you a bit about each band member, how they met, and why you should go see them play at a gig near you.

The group met in the summer of 2008 and have been gaining fans and a reputation as the number one band on the southern coast of Spain.

Mike is the lead singer, he's a great big kid, loves to dress up for show in keeping with what they are playing. So far he's done Elvis, a rastafarian, a disco dude for a 70's themed night. You never know what he's going to come up with next! Mike is origonally from the UK and lives in La Herradura with his partner Caroline and his 2 cats.

Duncan is the guitarist, don't let his rock god persona fool you, he's really a softy, he's been involved in the music biz since he was a teenager and for many years he traveled the world as a tour manager for Trilok Gurtu, who many consider one of the best drummers in the world. Since retiring from that job, he's focused more on his own music and is a star in the local music scene. Duncan, origonally from Canada, lives in the hills outside of Almuñecar with me (Danee) his wife, and our 4 cats.

Roland, the bass player is from Germany. He's previously played with the Little Rock Band and Quatro Gatos. His jokes are terrible but "Rolandini's Joke Time" has become a popular part of their gigs. Roland is single (hey ladies!) and lives with his cat Goldie. You often will see Goldie sitting next to Roland on a bar stool in Almuñecar, not that Roland hangs out in bars all day....

Javier is the drummer for That Band but he also plays guitar and bass. He's from Argentina but has lived in Almuñecar for 6 years or so. He's one of the most sought after musicians on the coast , not only because he plays drums, bass and guitar fabulously well, but also because he's one of the nicest most laid back guys you'll ever meet! He's the youngest of the group and also plays in the Bass Band (another great local rock band!). Javier lives with Nuria (sorry ladies).
